History Viveca Gardiner: Program Consultant

Ms. Gardiner is the president of Playful Productions, which provides circus performers and variety artists for special events, corporate training, and education programs. From 1993 to 2001, she was a director of the Big Apple Circus, where she managed community programs. She also published a study guide about classical circus arts, a training manual for performers in the renowned Clown Care Unit, and a circus-themed activity book for hospitalized children.

She has produced and performed variety arts, circus, and theater, including work with Cirque du Soleil, Circus of the Kids, Bindlestiff Family Cirkus, and the Flying Karamazov Brothers. She has performed as a juggler, ringmistress, trapeze artist, stilt walker, and roller skater and worked backstage doing wardrobe, concessions, ticketing, tech, and house management. She has taught circus skills to hundreds of children and adults.

Viveca is a contributing editor of JUGGLE magazine, a member of the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus Advisory Board, an organizer for the Carmine Street Irregulars juggling club, and a member of the International Jugglers Association. She has a bachelor's degree in literature from Harvard University and a master's degree in management from the Yale School of Management.
